COVID-19 Emergency Relief Grant

On March 26th, NYU established the NYU COVID-19 RELIEF GRANT to help support hardships students might be experiencing such as: unexpected expense of travel home, loss of income, other expenses associated with inaccessibility of university facilities and services.

The form is found on your NYU Albert Student Account. More details can be found on the grant’s webpage.

Federal Work Study

All work study students will be paid throughout the rest of the semester. Supervisors should be reaching out to discuss whether their job responsibilities can be fulfilled through remote work. The student’s supervisor should be entering hours into payroll as if they were working normally.

Email oncampusemployment@nyu.edu if you need support. More details can be found on the On-Campus Employment webpage.

Prorated Housing and Meal Plans

Prorated checks for students living in on-campus housing were sent out on Monday, March 30th. If a student has direct deposit set up for their Bursar’s Accounts, the funds will be directly deposited into that account; otherwise they will be sent out by mail.

Additionally, RAs are eligible to receive prorated refunds on housing and mail plan for the Spring 2020 Semester. The Senior Associate Vice President of Senior Affairs will be reaching out to RAs with more details.

Commencement

On March 25th, President Andy Hamilton announced that Commencement will be postponed to a later date. Following this announcement, CAS Dean Gene Jarrett sent out an email to CAS stating that CAS’ Baccalaureate Ceremony will also be postponed until further notice. Additionally, he announced that CAS is working on creating a virtual ceremony on May 19th to celebrate the seniors.

You can read President Hamilton’s full statement about All-University Commencement here.

Pass/Fail for Spring 2020 (CAS)

The Pass/Fail deadline has been extended to Tuesday, May 12th (Reading Day) for everyone. Additionally, students may withdraw from a course online through Albert until Tuesday, May 12th.

Students may elect to Pass/Fail two courses during the Spring 2020 semester. Students can convert the grades of more than two classes to P/F this semester, and should indicate this in their petition. Academic Standards will be flexible. Students should consult their academic advisor for guidance on whether to choose this option.

Note that the Pass/Fail option can apply toward fulfilling the requirements of the Core Curriculum or a department elective. A student’s request to apply Pass/Fail toward a major or minor requirement must have approval from the originating department.

Note that due to a high volume of petition requests, response times may be up to 15 business days.

(You can find the policy written out in it’s entirety here)

Please note that study abroad sites have different pass/fail deadlines depending on their calendar (since their calendars vary, but it’s generally the day before final exams)

Housing/Emergency Aid

The Financial Aid Office received a high volume of emergency aid requests after President Hamilton’s email and was unable to communicate to everyone within 24 hours as promised. As such, those who requested housing emergency aid by the end of the day on March 19th, will hear back by the end of the day today, March 20th.

The housing/emergency aid form will be open until next Wednesday, March 25th.

SGA is working with the Financial Aid Office to continue emergency aid efforts throughout the semester.
